STEVENS POINT – Recently retired Stockton Fire Chief Christopher Kluck has been named “First Responder of the Year” for the 71st Assembly District. Award recipients from each assembly district were recognized at a Hometown Hero ceremony during the Wisconsin State Assembly’s legislative session on Oct. 10 at the State Capitol.

“I am delighted to honor Chief Kluck with this award and thank him for his many years of selfless dedication to our community,” said Represenative Katrina Shankland (D-Stevens Point). “This recognition could not be better deserved. Over his 37 years in fire service, he left an indelible mark on all three Portage County fire departments he worked with, serving each with incomparable dedication, selflessness, appreciation, and leadership.

“Chief Kluck embodies servant leadership and is a genuine and appreciative person who never misses an opportunity to show he is thankful for others. This First Responder of the Year award is a chance to return some of the gratitude to him from the community to whom he has given so much.”

Chief Kluck was nominated for this award by Stockton Fire Captain Jeremy Spencer, in conjunction with the town of Stockton Board. He retired from his position as Stockton Fire Chief on Sept. 30.
