Gov. Evers to be in Watertown Today

Gov. Tony Evers, together with the state Department of Natural Resources Secretary-designee Preston Cole, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Secretary designee Brad Pfaff and state Rep. Katrina Shankland, D-Stevens Point, will be in Watertown at 10:15 a.m. today.

The state officials are meeting at the Watertown Park and Recreation Department, 514 S. First St.

Shankland currently serves as vice chairwoman of the speaker's task force on water quality.

The press conference relates to runoff pollution performance standards. The governor and others will be in the city to talk about statewide runoff pollution standards and nitrates, which is the state's most widespread water contaminants.

An announcement is expected to be made on the pollution performance standards.

Evers has declared 2019 the year of clean drinking water.
