Rep. Shankland Named Conservation Legislator of the Year

STEVENS POINT – On Monday, April 15, Rep. Katrina Shankland (D-Stevens Point) announced that she has been named Conservation Legislator of the Year by the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation (WWF).

WWF is a conservation group made up of hunters, anglers, and other individuals dedicated to promoting conservation education and policies that protect our state’s fish and wildlife habitats.

 In response, Rep. Shankland released the following statement:

 “I’m honored to be named Conservation Legislator of the Year by the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation. I greatly appreciate their leadership as sportsmen and women in conservation. My focus in the legislature has always been on clean water, air, and public lands, and I enjoy working hand in hand with WWF and George Meyer to help protect our state’s natural resources for generations to come.”

 Rep. Shankland is being recognized for her leadership in protecting our water resources, her support of hunters and anglers and the protection of fish and wildlife habitats, and her dedication to protecting all of our state’s natural resources, as evidenced by her work as Vice-Chair of the Speaker’s Task Force on Clean Water, and as a member of the Assembly Committee on the Environment, Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, and National Conference of Environmental Legislators.
