News from Nancy

A number of bills were passed out of the Assembly earlier this month, including the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact, a bill I authored with Senator Howard Marklein from Spring Green. I am pictured above on the Assembly floor discussing this important piece of workforce and rural healthcare access legislation. The bill was previously passed in the State Senate and has now been sent to the Governor for his signature. The other bills passed earlier this month covered a wide range of topics, ranging from authorizing municipalities to make local decisions as it relates to ATV usage, facilitating EMS and first responder access in rural areas, and also reigning in administrative rules and the rule-making process to help shift the balance of power back to the people’s voice in government, the elected legislature.

Importantly, in addition, a number of bills affecting veterans in our state were passed. Here’s a link to the press release I put out on those bills with more information: legis.wisconsin.gov/assembly/70/vandermeer/media/1170/vandermeer-press-release-110917-floor-session-vets-bills.pdf

It’s Thanksgiving tomorrow, I have a lot to be thankful for and I hope you do to. I’m thankful for my wonderful husband Dave and his love and support, I’m thankful for my family and friends, I’m thankful for the opportunity to live where I do and the exceptional individuals that make a difference every day in our communities, and I’m tremendously thankful for the opportunity to serve as your state representative. I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving during this special time of year.

Sincerely,

Nancy VanderMeer
70th Assembly District Representative

Happy Hunting

Wisconsin's nine-day gun deer hunting season began on Saturday, November 18th. If you've already had success, congrats! If you'll be out the remainder of the week, good luck!
There were a number of changes that were made to the hunting process this year. Some key things to be aware of:

-You no longer need to validate and attach your tag to your deer.
-You still need to carry proof that you are authorized to hunt in the designated area.
-You still need to register your harvested deer.
