Statement: White House Response to COVID-19

March 11, 2020

“I want to thank the Trump administration, especially the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, for arranging this timely update on what’s now being called a global pandemic. Officials provided essential information to help local and state leaders respond on a variety of fronts.  This briefing call was an impressive display of coordination and communication by the federal agencies that are working around-the-clock on the ‘All-America’ response to the coronavirus. Items reviewed on the call included the implementation of the supplemental appropriations bill, an update on the country’s testing supplies, a review of the recommendations for community mitigation and the administration’s comprehensive efforts to slow the spread of the virus in our country.

“It was repeated several times on the call: the risk of being infected is still low and most cases are mild. The focus is on reducing the possible spread to older adults and individuals with chronic health conditions or compromised health. I encourage everyone to continue to rely on the accurate information provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the following website:  coronavirus.gov."
