Statement: Retirement of UW System President

October 26, 2019

Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) released the following statement after President Ray Cross of the University of Wisconsin System announced his intentions to retire.

“I would like to thank President Cross for his outstanding leadership of one of the world’s premier university systems. His innovative and strategic management of the system should be commended. Ray has left a rock-solid foundation for future system leaders to meet the challenges and opportunities of bringing a world-class education to every Wisconsin student. I appreciate his efforts to ensure free speech is protected on college campuses in our state.

“I have every confidence that the Board of Regents will select a suitable replace for President Cross, though his are tough shoes to fill. I want to wish Ray and his wife Miriam the very best in his retirement.”
