Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) has been chosen to serve as the Vice President of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) at its annual Legislative Summit in Boston. He is the first NCSL Executive Committee officer from Wisconsin.
“It’s with great pride that I accept the nomination and responsibilities of this position,” said Speaker Vos. “I’m eager to serve in a larger role for NCSL and help lead the discussion of the important issues facing states today.”
For more than four decades, NCSL has served a critical role in being a voice for thousands of state legislators and staff across the country. The bipartisan organization and its staff advocate for states at the national level, serve as a resource in policy development and work to improve the effectiveness of state legislatures.
“This position will afford me the opportunity to increase efforts to expand federalism, guaranteeing we have the appropriate division of powers between the federal and state levels of government,” said Speaker Vos. “I look forward to working alongside the Executive Committee members and staff under the leadership of the new NCSL President Deb Peters of South Dakota.”
Speaker Vos’ appointment to the Executive Committee as the Vice President begins immediately. He will serve one year as vice president, become the president-elect the following year, and assume the NCSL president role in the summer of 2019.
