Speaker Vos Announces State of the Tribes Address
Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) would like to announce the 15th Annual State of the Tribes address is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 1 p.m. in the Wisconsin State Assembly. The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. has notified the speaker’s office that Chairman Tehassi Hill of the Oneida Nation will be giving this year’s address.
“This annual event gives the people of Wisconsin an opportunity to learn more about the issues facing the tribal nations,” said Speaker Vos. “It also increases our communications, so we can work together on areas of mutual concern.”
The State of the Tribes address began in 2005. Each year the council selects a member to give the address. Constitutional officers, members of the state Supreme Court and Senate are invited to attend. Both the address and the reception that follows the speech are open to the public.
