"Christmas Tree Bill" Signed into Law

This week, Governor Walker signed AB 648 into law to become 2015 Wisconsin Act 333. Act 333 will ensure that churches are free to display safe, well-watered and properly lit Christmas Trees in their sanctuaries. I was happy to author this legislation after being made aware of local issues concerning arbitrary bans of Christmas trees by local officials. Section 10.13 of the NFPA 1 fire code governs combustible vegetation, including natural cut Christmas Trees.

Veteran ID Cards Suitable for Voter ID

As you are likely aware, the April 5th primary is upon us. To vote, you will need to bring along photo identification with you to the polls. Governor Walker recently signed SB 295 into law, which will allow online voter registration, eliminate special registration deputies and allow the use of Veteran ID cards issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

For the first time, Wisconsin's veterans will be able to vote using their photo ID issued by the VHA. Click here to read more about how the new law relates to veterans.
