Working for you!

Freedom of Speech Week

In honor of National Freedom of Speech Week I’m highlighting the work we’re doing in the legislature to protect freedom of expression in Wisconsin. As the chair of the Assembly Colleges and Universities Committee, I’ve take a keen interest in preserving free speech on our public college campuses. It’s critical that the next generation of graduates understand the value of civil dialogue versus silencing your opponents.

You can watch an interview I did on this topic by clicking here.

Our Own Veterans Village

Left to right: Mike Thomas, Treasurer, Rep. Murphy, Dr. Tom Wiltzius, Board Advisor and Capital Campaign Chair

We are incredibly fortunate to have an emerging gem in our community. The Appleton area Veterans Village complex is the first of its kind. The Village will offer affordable housing, support and community to veterans in all life stages within a veteran-centric culture. I was able to tour the work in progress at the Veterans Career and Community Center and go through a model apartment while we walked the grounds. In addition to the services that will be offered here along with housing, the location of the complex is ideal since it offers veterans a number of resources within walking distance, including the John H. Bradley Veterans Clinic, Fox Valley Technical College, Fox Valley Veterans Council, and Tri-County Dental. I look forward to seeing this completed and becoming part of our terrific local community. Immanuel Lutheran School

Many thanks to Principal Dick Huebner for giving me a tour of the newly renovated and expanded Immanuel Lutheran School in Greenville. K-12 education is a priority for our state, and I enjoy seeing firsthand how our students and schools work together to succeed. I've spent time in a variety of schools in the Fox Valley over my years in the Assembly, and it's always a privilege to hear what challenges and achievements our schools experience as we educate the next generation.
