30 Years of Apprenticeships

Yesterday, the State Assembly adopted a resolution in honor of the 30 year partnership between the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and Wisconsin's technical colleges that provides nearly 1,300 apprenticeships a year in twelve different trades. Bringing Mining Jobs to Wisconsin

The mining bill we passed last night grows the economy, provides job opportunities in rural communities, protects our environment, and maintains local control. You can hear my thoughts on why I support AB 499 by clicking on the video below:

State Capitol EMS Day

Wednesday was EMS Day in the State Capitol. Grand Chute Fire Chief Tim Bantes and Assistant Chief Matt Kasriel, and Appleton Fire Captain Mike Woodzicka stopped by my office to discuss the EMS levy limit, the struggle of recruiting for volunteer fire departments, and an upcoming 911 operated assisted CPR bill.

A Day at UW-Oshkosh

On Monday, UW-Oshkosh undergraduate student researchers Madeline Hass and Jennifer Depew led off their Fall Legislative Partnership Day with an overview of their work in the Wisconsin Farms Oral History Project. We were also briefed on the proposed UW Colleges restructuring, the UW-Oshkosh Cooperative Academic Partnership Program (CAPP), and the foundation.

The new almanac of Wisconsin state government is now available and I’m dropping off as many of the books as possible in person, so if you request one, you might just get a visit from me as well.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of our beautiful State Capitol building. In honor of this anniversary, the Wisconsin Historical Foundation is throwing a once in a lifetime gala to benefit the Capitol Restoration Fund. Just go to the information desk in the rotunda, and they can direct you on how to find my office, 318 North. At the bottom of each e-update, you'll see my office contact information.
