Foxconn by the Numbers

I'm Asking the Hard Questions About Foxconn

This week I’ve spent a great deal of time analyzing and asking questions about the proposed Foxconn legislation. Although I am excited about the long term impact this project may have across our state, it is my responsibility to ask the hard questions and get answers about all the possible repercussions of this deal.

My highest priorities are to ensure that our government isn’t taking unnecessary risks on behalf of our hardworking taxpayers or threatening the current business climate. As we compete in the market against other states and nations for this enormous growth opportunity, we must always place our citizens first.

While my staff and I are hard at work reviewing all the materials, I encourage you to join me and offer your feedback and questions. Here are some of the most helpful resources about the Foxconn proposal:

Camping Reservation Loophole Eliminated

A small minority of campers are no longer empowered to hold campsite reservations hostage with a loophole in the DNR camping reservation system. The practice, known as “reservation sliding,” allowed a person to hold a site eleven months out and gradually extend the date forward until their desired date was met, effectively preventing anyone else from reserving the location. Under new DNR rules, reservations may not be altered until eighteen days after they are made, thereby preventing the abusive practice of “reservation sliding” and ensuring equal access to sites for all potential campers.

You can read more about this new rule by clicking here.
