WisConnect Launches to Link Employers with Students

Tuesday saw the launch of WisConnect, a free, 24-hour online resource at www.InternshipWisconsin.com that matches employers seeking interns with college students seeking opportunities to apply classroom knowledge and build professional networks in Wisconsin.

WisConnect is made possible through 2015 Wisconsin Act 283, which Governor Walker signed as part of our college affordability package. The package included legislation authored by state Senator Howard Marklein and me to fund positions to increase the amount of internship opportunities available in Wisconsin and increase the amount of college students participating in internships with Wisconsin companies.

Foxconn Eyes Wisconsin

The business climate in Wisconsin has improved so dramatically that large manufacturers like Foxconn are looking to move to our state, potentially creating thousands of jobs. Our hard work to attract new businesses and jobs is getting noticed. Building a $7 billion facility, like the one Foxconn is considering, would create thousands of construction jobs and result in long term jobs for engineers and everyone related to the new supply chain. This is just one opportunity that our common sense reforms have made possible.

Paving the Way to Good Roads

I joined Hortonville area community leaders Thursday night to look at and discuss the Highway 15 bypass. This important project is between Greenville and New London. This project is strongly supported by our local governments and is getting the same attention and hard work I've been putting into the other projects.

When it comes to transportation, nothing is more important to me than safety, and I’ve made specific recommendations to the Department of Transportation to address the significant traffic safety concerns on I-41 between Highway 15 and 441 North. The safety hazards and the congestion through this stretch requires an upgrade to six lanes, in order to alleviate these issues through the whole section.

Catfish Days

Our annual Greenville Catfish Days was a huge success!

Sovereign State Days

Today marks the fiftieth anniversary of Winneconne's secession from Wisconsin after being left off of the official state road map.  I'll be in the parade on Saturday down Main Street at 10:30 a.m. For more information about all the events surrounding the celebration click on the flag below:

Check out other upcoming events near us by visiting the Wisconsin Tourism website, and if you run into me while you’re out and about be sure to stop and say hi!
