Public Budget Input Pouring In

As we continue to review and discuss changes to the state budget, I'm happy to report that I'm hearing from constituents and others about this topic. In my experience, the people of the 56th Assembly District are good at communicating with me by phone, email, letter and survey responses and they keep me posted on what's important to them.

My budget listening session schedule was included in my 2017 Spring Survey, and was sent to area and statewide media, such as the Post Crescent and the Winneconne News, over the last few weeks.

Joint Finance Hearing in Marinette

Today, I'm in Marinette with the Joint Committee on Finance, listening to people express their opinions on the current budget and the budget process. Along with the input from my district, these conversations help me understand what is most important to the citizens of our state. I was honored to chair the public hearing for a while, and I saw some familiar faces. Thanks to all who took time out of their day to talk with us.

Visitors to the State Capitol

Great visit with people from the 56th who were here for Conservation Lobby Day!

Autism Awareness and Acceptance Day.  We recognized Shannon Knall, Wisconsin Policy Chair at Autism Speaks, with the proclamation from Governor Walker declaring April 2, 2017 as Autism Awareness Day and April 2017 as Autism Awareness Month. Thanks to Senator Roth for organizing this event.

I met with Dr. Rachel Romenesko and Dr. Jessica Kulich, when they visited for Wisconsin Optometric Association Lobby Day.

Students from UW-Stevens Point shared their perspective in my office.

The annual Research in the Rotunda event is always a pleasure to experience. Here, I'm talking with students from UW-Fox Valley about their projects.

It was great to see UW Board of Regents President, Regina Millner, and UW Fox Valley Dean, Dr. Martin Rudd.
