NATIONAL TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK, MAY
4-8, 2015 |
Let's take
time this week to thank our dedicated teachers all over the country, and
especially here in Wisconsin. During Teacher Appreciation
Week, I like to think back to some of the wonderful teachers I
have known. Someone that always comes to mind is Mrs. Ethel Beyer. I
didn't have Mrs. Beyer as a teacher, but she lived down the road
from us on Mayflower Drive. I went to school with her children.
Years later, when Mrs. Beyer taught in Neenah, my children were
her students and we all respected her and benefited from her terrific
work. Her dedication, hard work and positive spirit were evident
in all she did and I've always admired her. Thank
you! |
K-12 Is Top Budget Priority for Assembly
Republicans |
Completing the budget is always hard work, but that work is
paying off. I am proud to stand with my colleagues in
making the K-12 portion of the budget fully funded. We are
committed to K-12 education, and this is our top priority.
Yesterday, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI)
announced that once again, our state graduation rate has
risen. This is good news and I give a lot of credit to our
teachers and school administrators. A high school diploma is
critical to future work and academic success, and I applaud our
educators and students for their commitment to the future. |
Annual UW Posters in the Rotunda Event |
The annual UW Posters in the Rotunda event was held in the
Capitol rotunda. I always enjoy learning about research that
students are working on, and I usually visit all the displays
from students throughout the state, beginning with my
constituents. Well done, everyone!
Later in the afternoon, the students visited my office and we
discussed issues of importance to them. It was great to meet all
of you!

Wishing all our moms a lovely Mother's Day this
Sunday. Thank you for what you have done and continue to do for
us. I'm remembering and missing my mom, who passed away in March. I couldn't have had a better life guide than Beatrice
Murphy, and I'm thankful every day that I have the privilege of
being her son. Thanks, Mom.

Welcome!
I live in Greenville, but have an
office at the State Capitol in Madison. If you are in
downtown Madison, please feel free to stop by and say
hello! Just go to the information desk in the rotunda,
and they can direct you on how to find my office, 318
North. At the bottom of each e-news, you'll see my
office contact information.
If your school or group plans to tour the Capitol
building, please let me know in advance. I'd
love to visit with you for a few minutes and take a
group photo.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
