A Conversation with Regent Tim Higgins |
I'll be using my e-updates to highlight
constituents of the 56th District and give you the opportunity
to learn about some of the dedicated public servants we have in our own community.
For the first video, I had a conversation with Regent Tim Higgins
from the UW Board of Regents who is also a constituent of the
56th District. We talked about the the work that Tim does as a
Regent, the UW budget, and the relationship between the UW and the
legislature, among other topics. This will be the first video in
a series with Tim. |

budget was completed.***

Update on the Bucks Arena |
In the last e-update, I included a column about
my concerns with the Bucks arena proposal. Here's an update:
The Senate passed a deal on the Bucks arena on a
bipartisan 21-10 vote on July 15th. They made several changes, the most notable being a $2 ticket surcharge and
reducing state aid to Milwaukee County by $4 million per year to
cover the county's portion instead of relying on debt collections.
Click here to read a memo by the non-partisan Legislative
Fiscal Bureau that explains the changes the Senate adopted.
The Assembly is scheduled to vote on the Bucks
bill tomorrow, July 28th. I am pushing for some amendments that
I think will better protect taxpayers, and I am working to
gain support among my colleagues. If the Assembly adopts any
amendments, then the Senate would have to vote on the bill again. Each house
must pass identical legislation before it can be signed by the
governor.
I encourage you to contact me with your feedback
on the Bucks arena before I have to cast my vote. I appreciate
everyone who has already let me know their opinion. |
EAA AirVenture |
This
weekend my wife, Lynn, and I went to Oshkosh for the EAA
AirVenture. If you haven't had the chance to go, I encourage you
to go next year. We are so fortunate to have the best aviation
show in the world right here in Wisconsin! Click here
to learn more about the EAA.
Every year they build an aircraft at the EAA
Airventure
show, and I had the opportunity to put a rivet in the wing.

Welcome!
I live in Greenville, but have an
office at the State Capitol in Madison. If you are in
downtown Madison, please feel free to stop by and say
hello! Just go to the information desk in the rotunda,
and they can direct you on how to find my office, 318
North. At the bottom of each e-update, you'll see my
office contact information.
If your school or group plans to tour the Capitol
building, please let me know in advance. I'd
love to visit with you for a few minutes and take a
group photo.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
