Joint Finance Committee Adopts Rep. Rohrkaste Supported Budget Motion
Madison – State Representative Mike Rohrkaste (R-Neenah) applauds the Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) for adopting a budget motion put forward by Representative Joel Kitchens (R-Sturgeon Bay) that will restore half of the proposed funding cut to the Educational Communication Board (ECB). The ECB is responsible for Wisconsin Public Radio and Wisconsin Public Television, as well as various other activities.
“Since the budget process has started I have been contacted by numerous constituents concerning the Governor’s budget proposal to cut funding to Wisconsin Public Radio and Television,” said Rep. Rohrkaste. “People in the Fox Cities have been very concerned about the depth of this cut and the affect that it could have on such a great educational resource. That is why I worked with Representative Kitchens and signed on to his budget motion to have half of the proposed cut restored.”
The JFC voted 12-4 yesterday to reduce the Governor’s $5 million proposed cut, to just $2.4 million. This will allow the ECB to continue the great service they provide through Wisconsin Public Radio and Television, as well as its system for public safety notices.
