Reaction to Governor Walker's State of the State Address

On Tuesday, Governor Scott Walker delivered his State of the State Address to a Joint Session of the Wisconsin State Legislature.

I agree with Governor Walker, Wisconsin is headed in the right direction. Our unemployment rate is at its lowest point in 15 years, property taxes are down, and Wisconsin continues to be a great place to start a business.

I’m glad to hear that Governor Walker continues to be very interested in workforce development. The state of our state is strong, and we can ensure it remains that way by getting even more people into Wisconsin’s workforce. I constantly hear from Fox Cities employers about their need for more workers, especially those with industry-specific skills. We have an excellent opportunity to decrease the worker shortage, and I look forward to working on this issue during the 2017-18 Legislative Session.

The governor’s added focus on improving Wisconsin’s schools, growing the economy, and limiting government spending are also good news for Wisconsinites. I look forward to working with the governor and my fellow legislators in these areas.

Sincerely,

Neenah Joint School District Recognized at the State of the State!

During Governor Scott Walker's State of the State Address on Tuesday, the governor recognized the Neenah Joint School District for their excellence in continually exceeding state expectations. On hand from NJSD was Superintendent Mary Pfeiffer, High School Principal Brian Wunderlich, and seven students from NJSD's Arete Academy. Please join me in congratulating the students, faculty, and administration of the Neenah Joint School District. Go Rockets!

Visit to AbsorbTech

On Monday, along with Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert and other members of the business community, I was able to tour AbsorbTech, Incorporated's Neenah facility. AbsorbTech is a family-owned and operated company based in New Berlin, Wisconsin, with facilities all over the United States.

I appreciate them providing me the opportunity to to tour their Neenah facility and the chance to learn more about their business. AbsorbTech provides good, family-supporting jobs right here in the Fox Cities, and I am glad they have chosen Neenah as a place to do business.
