We Shall Never Forget

Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: ‘Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.’

– President George W. Bush on Sept. 11, 2001

Thousands of Job Openings in Wisconsin

This week, the Job Center of Wisconsin has more than 86,000 job listings, and on Wednesday the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced a record level of job openings in the U.S.  According to their report, the U.S. had 5.8 million job openings at the end of July.  Many of these jobs are in high demand sectors like IT, healthcare, and skilled work.  There are many employers in our own state that are having trouble finding qualified applicants to fill positions.  We need to continue to work toward getting Wisconsinites the skills they need to find and keep a job, which will help to close the growing skills gap in our state.
