I was re-elected to my seventh term in the State Assembly for the 2019-2020 Legislative Session. I was appointed as ranking member to the Joint Committee on Finance, before being elected to serve as the Assembly Democratic Leader in September of 2017. Prior to serving in the Legislature, I worked in government at the federal, state, and local levels.
A native of Oshkosh, I hold a bachelor’s degree in political science from Hamline University and a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I also had the opportunity to teach American Government at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh from 2005 to 2006.
I was honored to be awarded the Chancellor’s Medallion in 2014 in recognition of the leadership and service I provided while serving as a member of the Wisconsin State Building Commission.
My wife Liz and I enjoy living in our hometown with our daughter Beatrix.
