Assembly Bill 137
2019.04.17_AB137.jpg

On Wednesday, April 17, 2017, the Assembly Committee on Health and the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services held a joint public hearing on a couple of bills. One of the bills that was heard, was Assembly Bill 137/Senate Bill 110. This is a bipartisan piece of legislation that I authored along with Rep. Jimmy Anderson (D-Fitchburg), Sen. Patrick Testin (R-Stevens Point), and Sen. Janet Bewley (D-Mason). Essentially, the bill would allow for pharmacists to administer immunizations to any person, regardless of age. This bill calls for additional training for pharmacists who would choose to administer immunizations to children under age six and that pharmacist can only provide those immunizations that have a valid prescription for those young children. As well, under the bill the pharmacist would also be responsible for updating the patient's information on the Wisconsin Immunization Registry, so that both a patient's physician and pharmacist know the patient's immunization status. The Wisconsin Auctioneers Association had their legislative advocacy day this past Thursday and my office helped to coordinate the events of the day. One of the best parts of the day is when all the auctioneers meet in the rotunda to show off their chanting skills. The photo above is of my constituent, and your neighbor, Carol Wagenson. Click on the photo to hear her chant. By the way, did you know she was the 2012 State Champion?
