Hello, I’m State Representative Joan Ballweg.

Assembly Republicans delivered an initiative to fulfill Governor Evers' campaign promise of giving middle class Wisconsinites a tax break. Over the past eight years, Republicans created a surplus of almost $600 million dollars, money we proposed to use to provide much needed relief to Wisconsin families.

With agriculture being such an important industry in my district, I am pleased to know this initiative will deliver the Governor's tax cut without increasing taxes on local farmers.

This tax cut would be targeted toward individuals making between $30,000 and $100,000 and families making under $150,000. Our Legislative Fiscal Bureau estimated that the median income family filing would see a $310 reduction in net taxes.

I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues on this proposal and hopefully introduce this legislation soon in order to have it on the floor early this session.

Thanks for watching, have a great Wisconsin week!

Reaction to the State of the State Address

Yesterday was Governor Evers' first State of the State address. It should be our goal to find common ground this legislative session to work on issues that affect all Wisconsinites regardless of their political leanings. The people may have chosen divided government, but they did not choose inaction. Check out my statement following last night's state of the state address here

Loss of Green Lake Community Member
Charlie Marks

Charlie Marks, administrator of the Green Lake Sanitary District, passed away unexpectedly on January 4th. Charlie was a valuable member of the Green Lake Community, and I am appreciative of his commitment to making Big Green Lake and the watershed healthy through his work at the sanitary district. I met Charlie long before I was a state representative, and I know his leadership will be missed greatly.

I wish to extend my sympathies to the Marks' family and all that have been effected by his loss.
