Video Update from the Capitol

This week, I attended the National Conference for the Council of State Governments (CSG). CSG is an organization that involves all three branches of government to initiate communication and share insights to work on policy initiatives.

I have been heavily involved in this organization for a decade, and I even served as the 2016 Midwest CSG Chair. At the conference, I was honored to be added to the national leadership team of CSG. My term will go on for the next 4 years, and I will serve as the national chair in 2020.

Mental Health America’s Regional Policy Council was also meeting at the same time. They asked me to participate in a panel to highlight all of the wonderful initiatives that we have been leaders of in Wisconsin. In addition, I was recognized as a recipient of the Regional Policy Council’s Legislative Mental Health Champion award for all of the work we have done here in Wisconsin.

Stay tuned for pictures from the conference and updates on my national leadership rotation.

Technology Grants for Rural School Districts

Earlier this week, Governor Walker announced the availability of $15 million for Technology for Educational Achievement (TEACH) Information Technology Infrastructure grants. There are nine school districts in the 41st Assembly District who are eligible to receive money if they were to apply: Adams-Friendship, Berlin, Green Lake, Markesan, Montello, Princeton, Ripon Area, Westfield, and Wisconsin Dells.

TEACH grants assist districts in attaining equipment and technology necessary for a modern classroom. The grants can be used for various equipment and services including, access points, antennas, maintenance of internal connections, cabling, LAN controllers, routers, and more.

Eligible school districts should apply online at the TEACH website by 11:59 pm on Friday, February 2nd, 2018. Late applications will not be considered.
