Video Update from the Capitol

Starting in 1988, the Capitol underwent a 14-year renovation and restoration project.
The purpose of this project was to restore and preserve the beauty of the Capitol's original 1917 appearance.

In the ‘60s and ‘70s, out of character features such as drop ceilings and moveable partitions were introduced. The renovation project returned spaces to their original appearance.
Along with cleaning, and restoring marble, murals, and stencils; modern technology such as, heating and plumbing systems were upgraded and air conditioning was added. The project was undertaken wing by wing just as the original construction of the Capitol was handled.

I urge you to visit and view the beauty of this unique building and help us celebrate the Capitol’s 100th year anniversary.

Thanks for watching, have a great Wisconsin Week.

Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving Weekend!

Wisconsin's Christmas Tree Industry

Wisconsin is one of the largest Christmas Tree producers in the nation with over 850 Christmas Tree Farms. The Wisconsin Christmas Tree Producers Association promotes real Christmas trees, wreaths, and greenery through marketing and education.

Many people opt for an artificial tree thinking that it is the more environmentally friendly option, however real trees are a recyclable resource that stabilizes soil, provides refuge for wildlife, and absorbs carbon dioxide and other gasses while emitting oxygen.

This year's state Capitol Christmas tree comes from the Town of Emery, and the White House Christmas tree comes from the Village of Endeavor. To join the Ballweg family tradition and find a list of Cut-Your-Own Christmas tree farms, click the map on the right.
