What's New?

Representative Evan Goyke (D-Milwaukee) and I toured local businesses in Northwestern Wisconsin as part of the Bipartisan Legislative Exchange. It was Rep. Goyke's turn to visit me after my visit to his district this spring!

WRA Award

Last week, I attended the Wisconsin Realtors Association (WRA) annual convention in Milwaukee where I received the 2017 Chairman’s Citation Award. This award recognizes the accomplishments of individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the WRA or to the real estate industry.

Since I was inaugurated in January of 2015, I have been working tirelessly on property rights issues and encouraging home ownership. I believe that owning a home and being able to do what you want with your own property is the essence of the American dream. For as long as I am in office, I will continue to fight for the rights of property owners. WRA has been a strong supporter and advocate for these issues and I am proud to accept this award.

Wheels & Wings

Wheels and Wings is one of my favorite events to attend in the district. This event brings in visitors from around the country to our area for a family friendly car show, air show, and of course – the pancake breakfast! Senator Harsdorf and I volunteered on Saturday morning where we served pancakes to over 1,000 attendees. I am already looking forward to next year.

Bipartisan Legislative Exchange

In August, I had the pleasure of welcoming State Representative Evan Goyke to Northwestern Wisconsin. Rep. Goyke is a Milwaukee Democrat from a densely populated, urban Assembly district. Our districts are 300 miles apart – and we may be even farther apart politically. However, he and I have a mutual respect for each other and our commitment to our constituents and the State of Wisconsin. This spring, I had the opportunity to visit Milwaukee so this time it was Rep. Goyke’s turn to visit me.

We toured businesses in and around the 28th District to allow Rep. Goyke to fully understand the way of life and the struggles we face in rural Northwestern Wisconsin. We went to Son Bow Farm near Spring Valley, OEM Fabricators in Woodville, F&A Dairy in Dresser, Dresser Trap Rock, Interstate State Park, and Dancing Dragonfly Winery in St. Croix Falls. Thank you to my friend Rep. Goyke for making the trip North and joining me for a fun day of tours and meetings

Murr v. Wisconsin

This summer, the Murr Family (from St. Croix County) took their case all the way to the United States Supreme Court and unfortunately lost. This was a huge blow to the Murr Family and to property rights advocates in Wisconsin. Click on the link below to read an article written by Donna Murr about their case and the steps the Wisconsin Legislature is going to be taking to right this wrong.
