Friday I toured the new Sheboygan County Highway Department headquarters with DOT Secretary Dave Ross, Senator Devin LeMahieu, and Representative Terry Katsma. Thanks to County Administrator Adam Payne, Board Chair Tom Wagner, Supervisor TeStroete, Greg Schnell, and Jim TeBeest for showing us around. Then Secretary Ross spoke to the Sheboygan Chamber First Friday Forum about Transportation and how the DOT has been reducing the bureaucracy to get projects done more efficiently.  It was great to host the Secretary in the district and discuss with him the future of roads in our area.

HWY 23 Update

Friday, Secretary Dave Ross was in Sheboygan and he made it very clear that the DOT wants to move forward quickly on the HWY 23 expansion project.  The DOT has said there is funding available as the legislature has provided plenty of dollars to begin in this budget and they would like to start tomorrow.  This spring they will completing their revised EIS and a record of decision by the end of the year followed closely by the project starting.  I'm happy that Secretary Ross views the HWY 23 expansion as important as I do, it has been one of my top priorities since taking office.
