Hello,
In 2017, I authored legislation signed by the Governor which opened the door for the recycling of plastics that formerly were not being recycled. As a result, Wisconsin municipalities could see new jobs headed their way.
Brightmark, a company out of San Francisco, has announced a nationwide search for new plastic recycling sites. They expect to invest $500 million to $1 billion in its next facility.
These facilities can produce new fuels, wax, and other products from currently non-recycled plastics. That means non-recyclable items such coffee cup lids, hotel room keys, and beef jerkey wrappers can be turned into fuel rather than being dumped into our landfills.
I hope Wisconsin is given a close look when companies like Brightmark look for sites to expand.
