     The Wisconsin Legislature is working hard to move bills through committee in preparation for session in January.  

    On Tuesday, the Committee on Consumer Protection voted on AB 507, also known as the Lemonade Stand Bill. The bill allows children to operate temporary stands and sell non-hazardous foods (like lemonade) without a permit. It passed out of committee with a vote of 6-3, and I voted in favor. 

    The Committee on Natural Resources and Sporting Heritage voted three bills out of committee on Wednesday, one of which requires children to wear life jackets while boating. Wisconsin is one of only two states that does not currently require minors to do so.

    The committee then heard testimony on three bills, including AB 665. This bill would allow people to contribute money to the DNR to help cover the costs of hunting and fishing for Wisconsin veterans.

Wisconsin Stands Up to Sexual Harassment     Since many victims have come forward detailing sexual harassment in Congress and in different state legislatures, Wisconsin legislators have been dedicated to addressing the public's concerns.     At the state level, legislators instituted additional training sessions and have demonstrated no tolerance for sexual harassment in the workplace.      At the national level, Wisconsin's representatives are also taking a stand.  U.S. Representative Glenn Grothman (6th District), authored a letter to the Committee on House Administration asking for data on sexual harassment settlements to be made publicly available.     U.S. Representative Mike Gallagher (8th District) came out in support of the Congressional Accountability and Hush Fund Elimination Act, legislation to stop taxpayer money from being used to settle these claims.
