Hello,
This week was a monumental one for the Wisconsin State Assembly. We joined together on Tuesday afternoon to pass a bipartisan bill protecting those with pre-existing conditions and later listened to the Governor's agenda during his first State of the State address. As both parties have been reiterating, there are plenty of opportunities to work across the aisle in the currently divided Wisconsin State Government.
The first legislative agenda item we addressed this session was Assembly Bill 1, which guarantees people with pre-existing conditions have coverage. Under the bill these individuals cannot be denied a policy, denied necessary treatment, or required to pay higher premiums based on their health status.
I have met with many of you, and your concerns did not fall on deaf ears. We wanted to keep our promise to the people of Wisconsin by passing this bill.
Before passing the bill, we consulted with the Governor and ended up adopting his suggestion to prohibit an annual or lifetime cap on coverage. The bill was passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 76-19. This vote shows we can make quality legislation by working together on issues that matter to Wisconsinites!

As previously mentioned, we had another big event this week: Governor Evers' first State of the State address. He outlined a lot of his priorities, such as education and health care, and I would like to congratulate him on a successful speech. To see more of my thoughts click here.
I spoke with Governor Evers afterwards to discuss our mutual priority: mental health care. In the near future I will be sitting down with the Governor to talk about ways to improve mental health in Wisconsin.
As always, if there is anything I can do to assist you, please contact me. You can share your thoughts, find out additional information on issues, or see where I stand on any legislation. I look forward to hearing from you and, as always, working for you.
Sincerely,
Representative Paul Tittl
