Hello,
Earlier this week, I spoke with the public at our library to discuss some of the bills I'm working on that address our state's growing mental health problem.
Here are some of my bills that I talked about:
AB 523: This bill updates our state's psychology statute which hasn't been updated since 1994. Under this bill, Wisconsin will be able to attract top talent in the Psychological field all around the country. Along with many other changes, the bill makes revisions to how students with mental health issues get treated when they are in school by a psychologist.
AB 467: This bill gives local clubhouses who work with those experiencing mental health problems, such as Painting Pathways in Manitowoc, the opportunity to receive a matching grant up to $50,000.
AB 291: This bill is similar to the one above, but this bill gives matching grants to local nonprofit groups working with trauma-informed care programming, such as the Boys and Girls Club.
AB 466: This bill gives an income tax credit aimed at encouraging recent psychiatry graduates to practice in Wisconsin, and psychiatrists from outside of the state to move here and help Wisconsin residents.
Thank you to those who came out! It was great meeting with you!
