Foxconn Moves Forward

Click to check out the video

Yesterday, the Wisconsin Assembly embraced a generational opportunity to positively impact our state economy. We took the next step in bringing the first LCD manufacturing facility not just to Wisconsin, but to the nation. Foxconn has committed to bringing a level of investment and job creation that can revolutionize manufacturing here in the state.

I voted in favor of this legislation so that Wisconsinites have additional opportunities for good paying careers and businesses have new opportunities to grow.

Throughout the legislative process we heard ideas about how to make the deal better for Wisconsin. We adopted an amendment to address many of the environmental, workforce, and state business issues that were brought up. It was great to see bipartisan support for the bill on the Assembly floor today. The bill now moves to the Joint Finance Committee for an additional hearing and to the Senate.

Recap of the Assembly Substitute Amendment:

Monday's Solar Eclipse

On Monday, a 70-mile wide portion of the US stretching from Oregon to South Carolina will experience a total solar eclipse. In the 24th Assembly District we will see about 82% maximum coverage at 1:17pm. Since it will not be a total eclipse, you won't be able to look at it directly.

Here is a video showing you how to make a home-made viewer that allows you watch the moon travel across the sun without looking at it directly and damaging your eyes.
