Legislature Approves Tax Break

This week, the Assembly and Senate GOP passed legislation that will provide a tax cut to middle class families throughout Wisconsin. The plan will use the GOP surplus to allow Gov. Evers to fulfill the promise he made to voters last fall.

The GOP middle class tax cut uses the parameters set forth by Gov. Evers during the campaign. The tax break targets individuals with a yearly income of less than $100,000 and families making less than $150,000. The non-partisan legislative fiscal bureau estimates the average family will see a $310 reduction in taxes with three quarters of the tax cut benefiting filers making between $30,000 and $100,000.

The GOP plan effectively reduces taxes, while Gov. Evers’ plan would actually raise taxes by $518 million on small businesses and manufacturers. Now is not the time to raise taxes on hard working families in Wisconsin. I’m hopeful the governor will approve this common sense proposal passed by the legislature to give the surplus money back to the middle class families who earned it.

"Love the Bus" Celebration in Oak Creek

“Love the Bus” sponsored by GO Riteway in Oak Creek, is an annual tradition that started back in 2007 by the American School Bus Council as a way to recognize the important role the yellow school bus plays in education.

This year, I joined students, bus drivers and other local officials for a ride that began at the GO Riteway terminal in Oak Creek traveling to Forest Ridge Elementary School. Bus drivers in Wisconsin travel more than 82 million miles per year transporting 600,000 students to and from school.

It was great to chat with students and thank the bus drivers for safely transporting our children to and from school each day!
