The Week in Review

Providing Tools for Economic Development

Hello, I’m state Representative Jessie Rodriguez.

Last week, when the Assembly was on the floor we approved a proposal that increases the historic rehabilitation tax credit from $500,000 to $3.5 million. The historic rehabilitation tax credit is an important development tool for older cities like South Milwaukee that are looking to redevelop older commercial buildings.

Local leaders in South Milwaukee are working on redeveloping the downtown corridor by creating a vibrant main-street district with a growing number of unique shops for residents to spend their dollars in South Milwaukee and support the local economy. The historic rehabilitation tax credit is another tool local communities, such as South Milwaukee and Oak Creek, can use to continue pushing economic development. This is great news for our district!

Thank you for tuning in and have a nice weekend!
