Rep. Goyke presenting legislative citation to Troop Cafe

At the corner of 35th and Wisconsin is Troop Cafe. I am sure many of you have visited and are patrons of Chef Greg and the veterans that work there. I often hold in-district meetings at the Cafe and was proud to recently present them with a legislative citation honoring the workforce training they perform for local veterans.

As you know, I will be introducing this session a number of pieces of legislation related to corrections and criminal justice reform. I recently spent a day at the Capitol recording introductory videos for each bill. Stay tuned for updates and completed videos!

Wheeler Report Interview

"Goyke Wants Criminal Justice Reforms"

I was recently interviewed in my Capitol office by The Wheeler Report regarding criminal justice/corrections reform legislation I am working on, challenges Wisconsin faces with corrections, and possible solution ideas to the coming debate.

I encourage you to take time to read the interview article and I welcome your comments, ideas, and suggestions on how we can continue to work together on these needed reforms.

Rep. Goyke introducing guest panelists at the February 28 Study Group Meeting

Democratic Study Group Reorganized!

I am proud to join a small group of legislators in reorganizing the Democratic Study Group. This group is an affiliation of Democratic lawmakers who will convene periodic forums to discuss pressing problems and progressive policy solutions. Originally formed by progressives in the 1950's, this group will continue to meet monthly with each meeting dedicated to a different area of public policy.

I hosted the February meeting, which was focused on criminal justice and corrections reform.  Stay tuned for work products and progress as we continue to develop policy solutions.

Rep. Goyke with Bishop McClelland, President Word of Hope Ministries, Inc.

On February 14th I joined fellow State officials, local leaders, and members of the clergy at an in-district announcement of new Fast-Forward grant recipients.

Wisconsin Fast Forward grants help individuals develop job skills for employers in Milwaukee. They also foster partnerships between employers, workforce, and economic development organizations to provide enhanced worker training. Congratulations to the recipients!
