  At the Capitol

I recently welcomed cadets from the Challenge Academy at Fort McCoy to the State Capitol. During my first term I visited their campus and was very impressed by the work of the faculty and the dedication of the students. Welcome cadets!

Disability Advocacy Day 2015 was a success at the Capitol and I was proud to welcome from the district Ms. Rhonda Greenhaw who is an excellent advocate for those in need.

Employment Resource

The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has a Skill Explorer website that provides a free job search tool allowing Wisconsin workers to search for employment opportunities that match their existing skills and training. Skill Explorer can be found by clicking here.

Workers can search for career opportunities on the Skill Explorer website by typing in their former or current job title. Skill Explorer provides a list of current openings relating to the work experience of that job through openings on Job Center of Wisconsin. Skill Explorer provides overviews explaining what each specific job entails, how much workers typically make in that position, and any special training or background needed for the occupation. Skill Explorer’s mapping function will show hot spots in the state for particular occupations, as well as allow individuals to search for current openings by county.

Friends and Neighbors,

I hope this update finds you well and that you are taking advantage of all our community has to offer with the warmer weather!

As you know, Governor Walker has introduced his budget to the State Legislature for consideration. The budget bill is currently being debated by the Joint Finance Committee, which begins voting on specific provisions today.

I am writing to invite you to a community listening session on the state budget that I am co-hosting this Saturday at the Black Historical Society Museum. I highly encourage you to attend to register your thoughts on the budget proposal or voice your opinions on provisions that you may agree or disagree with. This is an opportunity to learn about the state budget and for your voice to be heard! I will be there and hope to see you there as well. I am confident that together we can create a budget that has a positive impact for all Wisconsin citizens.

I hope this update is helpful. As always, I welcome any feedback or ideas you may have. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.

Community Budget Listening Session This Saturday!!

As the budget debate here in Madison continues, I have received numerous phone calls, e-mails, and letters from neighbors back home about concerns they have with the proposed 2015-2017 state budget. Thank you for your engagement!

This Saturday I will be co-hosting a local community budget listening session with my fellow local legislative colleagues from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Black Historical Society Museum. Please consider attending! This is another opportunity for me to hear directly from you and use your ideas to improve our state's budget.

The Joint Finance Committee, where the current budget bill is being debated, will begin voting today on specific provisions in the budget. This is why it is essential for me to hear from you so I can continue to do all I can to see changes made to the budget.

Please see complete information on the listening session below:

Rep. Goyke with Alexis Green

I was proud to join my friend, Alexis Green, at Best Buy as part of the "Take Your Legislator to Work" campaign. Alexis taught me about her job and how much she learns each day about today's technology. Thank you Alexis for inviting me and letting me be a part of your busy day!

2013-2014 Blue Books

Each legislative session, the State of Wisconsin prints Blue Books and allocates a number of them to legislators to distribute to constituents back home. Blue Books are a wonderful resource to learn about and understand State Government. I still have a number of Blue Books available. If you would like one, please contact me and I can drop it off in person or mail it to you directly.
