Forward Fridays

Hello!

Welcome to my latest E-update! Each week we catch you up on what I've done in the past week as your State Representative.

As always, feel free to reach out to my office with any questions or concerns you have.

Forward together!

May is Motherhood Month

Motherhood Month Graphic 3.png

Yesterday, I introduced a Joint Resolution, with my colleagues Rep. Snyder (R-Schofield) and Sen. Johnson (D-Milwaukee), for the State Assembly and Senate honoring May of this year as Motherhood Month in Wisconsin.

Mothers have moved our state, country, and the world forward and remained steadfast in their pursuit of a better and brighter future for their children. The work of mothers is of paramount importance but is often undervalued, unnoticed, and unappreciated.

Wisconsin has significant racial disparities for maternal mortality rates, which need to be addressed. Our state has a proven record of meeting challenges and creating positive change, and we are committed to making mothers' lives better and ensuring their health and prosperity.

In honor of Wisconsin’s mothers and motherhood -- mothers by blood, marriage, foster care, adoption, or other forms of care -- we honor May of this year as Wisconsin Motherhood Month.

 Earth Day

On Monday, we celebrated Earth Day- a tradition started in our own state!

Earth Day in Wisconsin means continuing our state’s tradition of environmental conservation & preservation of our exceptional natural resources now, and for future generations to enjoy.

Denim Day

Denim day was April 24th -- a day to raise awareness and show support for survivors of sexual assault by wearing denim. There is no excuse for sexual violence.

The world isn’t right yet, and so we fight. Stories heard. Women believed. Commitment to progress. Forward together. Denim Day 4-24.jpg

What's Happening in the 14th District?

Saturday, April 27th is Drug-Take Back Day. What does that mean?

"Drug Take-Back Days are a convenient and simple way to safely destroy expired prescription and non-prescription drugs. By dropping off unused medications you eliminate the possibility of accidental ingestion, misuse, or abuse by a family member or loved-one. Properly destroying medication through a Drug Take-Back site also prevents pharmaceuticals from contaminating the water supply. If individuals are unable to participate on Saturday, April 27th, year round permanent Drug Take-Back sites are available across Waukesha County and the State." - Mike Hallquist, Brookfield resident and a member of the Leadership Team for Waukesha County Drug Free Communities #TakeBackWI

Wauwatosa is looking for artists to create street murals this summer!

These murals will be on display around East Tosa, near North Ave and 68th-69th streets. I can't wait to see what goes up on Cranky Al's wall!

Find more information from the news article here, and click here for a copy of the call for artists.

Charlie Berens.jpgCharlie Berens is coming to Brookfield! The host of "Manitowoc Minute" is putting on a show at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center on May 10th, at 7pm.
