Session
Tuesday, the State Assembly was in session for the last time before 2020 to vote on these bills and resolutions.
I adjourned on Tuesday in honor of my mother-in-law, who passed away from pancreatic cancer. We passed a resolution honoring November 2019 as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

On Tuesday, Governor Evers, joined by Lt. Gov. Barnes, Rep. Stubbs, Sen. Taylor, and other members of state government, signed Executive Order #59, which requires state agencies to develop and implement equity and inclusion action plans, directs the Wisconsin Dept. of Administration to develop and provide mandatory equity and inclusion training for all state agency employees, and creates the Governor’s Advisory Council on Equity and Inclusion.
Also on Tuesday, Rep. Stubbs, Sen. Taylor, and other legislators of color introduced the complementary bill for the Executive Order, LRB-4063, creating the Council for Equity and Inclusion and the Office for Equity and Inclusion and making an appropriation. I have signed on as I co-sponsor.

Have you had a baby? Did your body change as a result? Do you experience pain in your back, hips or pelvis? Do you leak urine when you cough or sneeze? Do you have bladder urgency? Women of any age can experience pain, urine leaking, bowel dysfunction and other physical changes with their bodies. You may consider these changes COMMON, but they are NOT NORMAL.
I announced a new initiative called "Topical Town Halls" - neighborhood educational opportunities about five different topics, hosted around the district throughout the winter and spring -- November, January, February, March, April, and May.
Read my press release here to see the topics, announcing our Topical Town Halls.
Donuts During Deployment
I deeply appreciated our round table on Saturday morning, and the input from families who have experienced, or are currently experiencing deployment, gave us helpful advice for some practical next steps. If you’d like a summary, please email the office. Click here for a quick google questionnaire for those who weren’t able to join us in-person.
ADDITIONALLY- Click here for a PDF of recently proposed or passed legislation that affects military families.
Forward Wisconsin
On Wednesday, I was back at the Capitol for a Children & Families Committee Executive Session and Public Hearing, and I met with a man from Uganda who is developing a workforce training program to combat child sex trafficking (similar to one I’m working on in Wisconsin). I also paused to film a quick video for ForwardWI— an initiative inside the Capitol aimed at fighting for issues that have broad bipartisan public support. Stay tuned for more. I then headed back to the district for a couple of evening meetings.
Wauwatosa School Safety Meeting
On Monday, we had our second quarterly meeting with the Wauwatosa School District to discuss school safety. In attendance were myself, Rep. LaKeshia Myers, Superintendent Phil Ertl, and school board members Leigh Anne Fraley, Sharon Muehfeld, and Shawn Rolland. I am looking forward to future conversations and taking action on how to keep our schools safe.
