My Recent Work in the Legislature

What's Goin' On?

As some of you may know, the Legislature is gaveled out of session until next year. In the interim, meetings with committees, constituents, and stakeholders are in progress to gear up for a productive future session come January.

Recently, I've been proud to be part of two caucus-wide packages -- Forward on Climate and Conditions of Confinement. Conditions of Confinement focuses on restoring basic rights to prisoners, especially regarding the conditions of our state prisons. For that package, I was proud to partner with Senator Lena Taylor on a bill that will remove the right to utilize servitude as punishment in our state constituent. For the Forward on Climate Package, I was proud to author two bills that seek to mitigate the imbalanced impacts climate change has on low-income families and communities.

This session, I've been proud to support reproductive rights, students and schools of all backgrounds, gun control, and the efficiency & accountability of state and local agencies. Looking ahead to next session, I'm excited to move our community forward by continuing to support and advocate for measures that support happy, secure, and healthy futures. Please do not hesitate to reach out to my office to share your priorities and concerns!

Yours in Service,

LaKeshia Myers
