Westminster Best in Show Winner to be Recognized as WI Assembly ‘Hometown Hero’
MADISON – The Wisconsin State Assembly will recognize Kent Boyles and his champion German Shepherd, Rumor Has It (Rumor), from Edgerton, Wisconsin as “Hometown Heroes” at the upcoming Assembly session on April 4th.
Rumor and her handler, Kent Boyles, were nominated by their State Representative, Don Vruwink, for winning Best in Show at the 2017 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden on February 14, 2017. Rumor and Boyles bested 2,800 competitors in 202 breeds to take the crown – a feat only one other German Shepherd has accomplished in this competition.
Rumor came out of retirement to compete at the Westminster Dog Show this year. She will happily reenter retirement in Wisconsin’s 43rd Assembly District with the world’s highest honor for a show dog.
The Wisconsin State Assembly sees giving back to the community as one of the most valuable characteristics one can have. The Assembly Hometown Heroes program seeks to identify and recognize individuals from around the state who give of themselves to make a difference in our communities and in the lives of those around them. Hometown Hero Award winners are invited and introduced as a special guest at an Assembly floor session and given the opportunity to speak.
