Representative Steineke Applauds Additional Education Funding - JFC plan will add $200 million to public education funding in next state budget

Madison – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) voiced his support in response to the Joint Finance Committee’s (JFC) decision to add extra funding for K-12 education in the next state budget. The JFC Co-Chairs announcement came immediately before the Finance Committee went into executive session to vote on the new funding proposal.

“Funding our K-12 schools is my top priority and Assembly Republicans’ as well,” said Rep. Steineke. “I’m relieved to see that the Joint Finance Committee responded to the parents and teachers all across the state who voiced their concerns. As the husband of a public school teacher, I see firsthand how crucial it is that our educators have the necessary resources to effectively teach their students.”

“If we want Wisconsin to remain a state where families choose to come and raise their kids, and a state where businesses want to locate, we must offer a top-notch education system. Extra investment in our children’s education will help Wisconsin remain competitive. Most importantly, it will help our students receive the best education they possibly can.”

The Joint Finance Committee is expected to complete the executive sessions in the next several weeks, and the Legislature will vote on the state budget in June.
