Rep. Steineke Statement on Kenosha Casino Decision

Madison . . . Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke released the following statement in response to Governor Walker’s decision that he will not approve the development of a casino in Kenosha County:

“Governor Walker’s decision today is disappointing. This could have been an opportunity for the Racine and Kenosha area to achieve significant private sector job growth. What’s even worse is that the situation we find ourselves in today is the direct result of policies made in the past by Jim Doyle. Now we have to live with the unfortunate outcomes. I do respect the Governor’s concerns that approving the casino could have resulted in more than $100 million in lost revenue to the state. It is disheartening to know that effects of decisions made long before we came in to office are still reverberating through Wisconsin's economy today."
