Rep. Steineke Statement on Congress’s Failure to Delist Great Lakes Wolves

Madison . . . Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) issued the following statement in response to Congress failing to delist wolves in the western Great Lakes region from the endangered species list:

“This is disappointing news for Wisconsin residents who are unable to protect their property and livestock from wolves. It’s a clear indication of Washington’s disregard for scientific evidence indicating that it’s time for wolves to lose their endangered status in the western Great Lakes. Wisconsin has a successful wolf management structure in place that has increased our wolf population to record numbers. Instead, we remain at the arbitrary whims of an out of-touch government bureaucracy catering to extreme environmentalists.”
