Rep. Steineke Statement on 2015 State of the State Address

Madison . . . Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke released the following statement in response to Governor Walker’s 2015 State of the State address:

“Tonight’s State of the State address was a good reminder of how far we have come in the past four years and a clear outline of where we need to go in the future. Governor Walker presented his goals for the year which are in line with Assembly Republican’s. We want our economy to grow, our education system to improve and government to run as efficiently as possible.

“Thanks to the work accomplished over the past four years, Wisconsin is closer to making these goals a reality: the unemployment rate is 5.2 percent, the lowest it’s been since 2008. New workforce training programs are enabling people to become skilled in high-demand industries. School choice expansion is allowing students to find an education environment that fits their unique needs. Property taxes are lower for the fourth consecutive year. More middle-class and low-income workers can keep more of their money thanks to a $98.6 million reduction in income taxes. New business formation is up by over six percent over the past year. Ninety-six percent of Wisconsin job creators believe our state is headed in the right direction. There is truly much to celebrate tonight!

“The Governor is committed to our state, and I appreciate his strong leadership. Assembly Republicans will work alongside him presenting solutions and ideas to make Wisconsin strong. Our guiding principle will be to make state government run as efficiently and productively as possible. Our ultimate hope is that Wisconsin will become a place of abundant opportunity and prosperity for all.”
