Green Bay 8th Grader to be Named Assembly ‘Hometown Hero’
MADISON – The Wisconsin State Assembly will recognize eighth grader Eloise Massee from Green Bay, Wisconsin as a “Hometown Hero” at the upcoming Assembly session on November 12th.
Massee, who was nominated by her State Representative, John Nygren (R-Marinette), is one of two statewide honorees for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award for charity and service. She has been heavily involved in efforts to raise both funds and awareness for life-saving organ donations, co-chairing her school’s Northeast Wisconsin Donate Life and Community Service Committee.
“Eloise is an inspirational young person, who is already going above and beyond for her community,” said Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) who selected Massee for the award. “Her track record of volunteering her time to so many different charitable causes is incredibly deserving of our Hometown Hero award.”
Beyond her work for organ donations, Massee also volunteers for several programs, including science and engineering camps, holiday dance clinics for students with special needs, and hosting a “Heavenly Hats Parade” that provides hats for cancer patients.
“As a freshman in high school, Eloise has displayed a maturity beyond her years with her sense of community awareness and service. She has volunteered and organized numerous programs, projects, and events to assist those in need,” said Rep. Nygren. “I am proud to represent such an inspiring and selfless individual like Eloise. I hope her kind spirit and generosity continue to grow and I hope her actions serve as an example to others on how we can be of service to others.”
The Wisconsin State Assembly sees giving back to the community as one of the most valuable characteristics one can have. The Assembly Hometown Heroes program seeks to identify and recognize individuals from around the state who give of themselves to make a difference in our communities and in the lives of those around them. Hometown Hero Award winners are invited and introduced as a special guest at an Assembly floor session and given the opportunity to speak.
