Rep. Steineke Statement on Governor Walker’s Budget Address

Madison . . . Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke released the following statement in response to Governor Walker’s budget address:

“Tonight, Governor Walker presented the 2015-2017 State Budget to the Legislature. It is important to remember that when the Governor introduces the budget bill, it is an indicator of his spending priorities. Now it is the Legislature’s time to examine it carefully and make changes that reflect our priorities. It is my hope that the final budget bill is a plan that keeps our fiscal house in order while funding necessary responsibilities.”

“Every decision that Assembly Republicans make during the budget process will be based on the principal of not spending more than we have while keeping vital government functions solvent. The next few months will include opportunities for public input, and I encourage Wisconsinites to get involved and make your opinions heard. I look forward to working with the Governor and my Legislative colleagues to craft a budget that we can all be proud of.”
