Coal Pile/Port Expansion Bill Update

Today, AB 325, a bill I authored relating to a harbor assistance grant for the city of Green Bay passed the Senate Executive Session on Transportation, Veterans and Military Affairs. Now it is available to be scheduled to be voted on in the Senate.

For five decades, the City of Green Bay has advocated for relocating those coal piles in downtown, through this legislation, we’ve got our best shot to make that happen.

Under this bill, the Department of Transportation will award a harbor assistance grant of not more than $1,200,000 to the city of Green Bay for planning and geo-technical work at the former WPS coal-fired plant site located at the mouth of the Fox River. The 200+ acres at this alternate site will be an ideal location for the coal pile relocation, and allow for the Port of Green Bay to dramatically expand its current port capacities. This investment could eclipse $15 million and will maximize Green Bay’s downtown potential.

Again, to help this important legislation become law, please click the picture below and sign the petition. Thank you for the continued support of this transformative proposal.
