I would like to thank you all for taking the time to read through my newsletter. Each week, I'll include information to keep you up-to-date with what's happening in Madison.

What's Actually in the Budget?

I have been receiving a large number of calls and emails from my constituents lately asking me to explain Gov. Tony Evers’ proposed state budget and to give my thoughts on his spending plan.

Because this is such an intricate subject, it’s impossible for me to go into enough detail in a format as small as my weekly e-update. So, in order to expand on my assessment of Gov. Evers’ budget and to provide you with an ample amount of information, I have decided to write everything down in a letter.

If you would like to read this letter in full, please click here.

Keep Informed with Social Media

As I’m sure you are aware, I try to send out an e-update every week to let you know what I’m working on in Madison and to keep you well-informed on everything that’s happening at the state Capitol. I firmly believe that transparency in government is fundamental for our democracy to thrive.

However, given the flurry of activity that occurs at our statehouse regularly, it can be a challenge getting you that information in a timely manner. Once a week is simply not enough to stay on top of it all. Since I know you don’t want me to be emailing you an e-update every single day, I have made it a priority to be more active on social media.

Instead of me pestering you with multiple extra e-updates per week, you have the freedom to peruse my sites as often as you want and collect the information whenever it’s most convenient for you.

To help ensure that easier access, I recommend following my Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts. You can also find a list of the legislation I have worked on, along with an archive of my press releases and E-Updates on my official website.

In addition to providing details about my legislative projects, I also use social media to share public service announcements and news releases from state agencies so you have the resources you need to help keep you more informed and make your lives easier.

I also encourage you to use my Facebook page as a platform to let me know your thoughts on my legislative proposals or inform me of any issues you are having with state or local government. It’s another way to have your voices heard.

If you need any help with following or subscribing to my social media sites, please don’t hesitate to contact my office.

Visit from the Civil Air Patrol!

As a member of the Legislative Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, I was thrilled when members of the Door County Composite Squadron stopped by my office for a visit this week. The Civil Air Patrol provides a great service to our communities by conducting aerial rescue searches and surveying damage from natural disasters.

Perhaps the most important role that the Civil Air Patrol plays in our community is the mentoring of our youth. Many young students seek out this program due to an interest in aviation but soon learn so much more. Members develop a sense of confidence and integrity rarely seen in high school students.

When I discussed the program with Cadet Captain Mattison Donaldson and Cadet 2LT Billie Botes, both of whom are student members who dropped in, they spoke with a confidence and poise that belied their age. With plans to further their education in the Naval Academy, I foresee a bright future for these two, and know that they will go on to do many great things for our country.

If you have an interest in the Civil Air Patrol, or know someone who would like to join, you can find more information on their Facebook page here.
