Representative Kitchens Testifies with Constituents

It was a pleasure to testify alongside the Peninsula Pulse owner, David Eliot, his editor, Jim Lundstrom, and Sheboygan County Clerk Jon Dolson in support of my Legal Notice Bill, Assembly Bill 731, which allows free local newspapers to publish legal notices.

Keeping citizens informed about the decisions local governments make on behalf of their community is an integral part of democracy.  Unfortunately, due to limited internet access in rural areas, notifying the public can become quite a challenge for small towns. AB 731 will help rural communities ensure that they have access to important legal notices by increasing the options available to small municipalities when it comes to disseminating this information to the public.

Be sure to check out the great testimony on WisconsinEye!

Liberty Grove Partners with Door County Broadband

I was excited to hear that the town of Liberty Grove has partnered with Door County Broadband. Liberty Grove, with Door County Broadband's help, plans to apply for a grant available through Wisconsin Public Service that will help fund the town's efforts to increase internet service in their area.  The funds awarded by this grant would be used towards building three new towers that will expand service to more than 90% of the township!

As the world is increasingly dependant on online platforms, it is becoming steadily more difficult for families to get by without internet access.  I applaud the efforts of both Liberty Grove and Door County Broadband to increase internet access throughout our community, which is vital to attracting business and keeping citizens informed.
