Foxconn Special Session Called

As I mentioned in last week's E-Update, I will be giving you updates on the Foxconn incentive package as it moves through the legislative process. This past Tuesday, the Governor called a Special Session for the legislation relating to Foxconn's investment in Wisconsin. The bill, SS AB1, was introduced on Tuesday afternoon. This information was immediately accessible to the general public.

As Speaker Vos mentioned at the introductory press conference, this legislation will be treated like any other and go through the entire legislative process. A public hearing was held in the Assembly Committee on Jobs and the Economy this past Thursday. Hearing from the public is the most important part of the democratic process, and because of this, members of the committee took many hours of testimony from the public. You can watch the hearing here. The Committee will be voting on this bill next Thursday. I will continue to update you as progress is made.

Introducing the Foster Care Task Force

Last week the Speaker's Task Force on Foster Care kicked off our state tour in Madison. I'm excited to travel around the state and hear more input from those involved in the child welfare system.  I will keep you up to date on future meetings. Below is a video introducing the task force. Click the image to watch!

If you are interested in more detailed updates on the task force, you can head to our website where there will be hearing recaps and a schedule of future events: http://legis.wisconsin.gov/2017/committees/assembly/fc

Kewaunee Seawall Video

This week I came across a drone video that highlights the boardwalk along the river seawall in Kewaunee. The funding for the seawall was one of my key achievements from last session and I could not be more excited to see the community development around it. For some background on the seawall and all that went into it, you can read this article from 2016.

Annual Door County Fair

This weekend is the conclusion of the annual Door County Fair. This is a wonderful event for families that includes music, animals, competitions, rides and lots of great food! The event has been expanded this year to include even more entertainment and will feature local talents. I am most excited for the 4-H Junior Fair Exhibit. I encourage everyone who has the chance to come down and enjoy the festivities. You can head to the fair's website for more information: http://www.doorcountyfair.com/ . I hope to see you there!
