Wisconsin Coastal Management Council Meeting

Earlier this week, I attended a meeting of the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program (WCMP). The WCMP works towards preserving and improving public access to the natural and historic resources of the coasts of Wisconsin's Great Lakes.  I was appointed to serve on the Wisconsin Coastal Management Council by Governor Walker in 2016 and I feel honored to have been chosen. The most recent meeting of the WCMP took place in Bayfield, Wisconsin which rests along the shores of Lake Superior with the Apostle Islands in sight.

I had the great privilege of touring the City of Bayfield Waterfront Trail. The Waterfront Trail allows visitors to walk alongside Lake Superior and learn about the history of the town. The Waterfront Trail was made possible by a grant from the Coastal Management Council. Providing safe, public access to our state's beautiful natural resources is one of my biggest priorities down here in Madison. Our district is blessed with abundant resources and beauty so I know the importance of protecting these areas.

I look forward to working with the members of the WCMP and the legislature to continue to preserve and protect the 820 miles of shoreline in Wisconsin for generations to come!

Here is a photo from the meeting in Bayfield as we toured the shoreline:

Clean Water Access Bill Passes Full Assembly

This week, the Assembly was in session and voted on Assembly Bill 226 which I co-authored with Senator Rob Cowles (R-Green Bay). I am happy to report that AB 226 passed on the floor of the Assembly with bipartisan support. This crucial piece of legislation will provide relief and access to clean water for homes throughout our state.

I would like to thank Senator Cowles and his staff for their partnership and dedication on this issue which is so important to our area. Additionally, I would like to recognize the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters for their support and enthusiasm for this bill. I look forward to working to bring to important bill to the floor of the State Senate soon!
